The Deep Dive Easy Online Will Service

Write your will at the kitchen table. We check it before it counts.

Answer a set of plain English questions in your own time, at your own pace. When you are happy with your answers, a qualified member of our team reads the draft, checks it properly, and comes back to you with feedback before anything is finalised.

Start your will from £89

There is nothing to pay while you write it. Payment comes when you submit your answers for checking, so you can see the whole thing before you decide.

Three situations this was built for

You have never made one

You would rather not spend an afternoon and several hundred pounds at a solicitor's office to put something straightforward in place. This gets it done properly from home.

Your will needs changing

Circumstances have moved on. Writing a fresh will through this service is usually quicker and cheaper than amending the one you already have.

You are planning for inheritance tax

Proper planning takes time to think through. A simple will secures your wishes now, so you can take as long as you need over the bigger decisions.

How it works

1

Answer the questions

Plain English, no legal jargon, and you can stop and come back to it. Most people finish inside an hour, and many take a good deal less.

2

Submit it for checking

When your answers say what you want them to say, you save them and pay. Your draft goes securely to a qualified member of the Deep Dive team.

3

We read it and come back to you

We look for errors and anything that reads ambiguously, and tell you what we find. Once it is finalised you get clear instructions for signing it with witnesses.

A will decides more than who gets what

Two families with the same house, the same savings and the same children can pay very different amounts of inheritance tax, purely because of how their wills were written.

The residence nil-rate band is the clearest example. It is worth up to £175,000 for each of you, and it is available only where your home passes to children, grandchildren or other direct descendants. A will that sends the home somewhere else, or into the wrong kind of trust, loses it. At 40%, that one point is worth around £70,000 to your family.

A will you can write in an evening is worth having. A will written knowing what it does to your family's tax position is worth a good deal more, and it is the same will.

What the check actually is

An online will is only as good as the reading it gets before it is signed. Every draft written through this service is read by a qualified member of the Deep Dive team, who looks for errors, gaps, and wording that could be read two ways once you are no longer here to say which you meant.

You get that feedback in writing, in plain terms, and you can change your answers in response to it.
